Spooky Costume Conspiracy? 2 of This Week’s Most Popular Homes Star Ghostface

realtor.com

It’s officially Halloween season, and listing agents are trying to scare up some buzz. We can report success!

This week’s most popular homes on realtor.com® feature not just one, but two abodes with listing photos starring Ghostface from the movie “Scream.”

Jinx! Someone owes someone a Coke. Although the costume concept is easily replicable, the blend of humor with a dash of seasonality created a flurry of clicks on both homes.

The top spot belongs to a nondescript Florida home and its creative listing agent, Levi Stubbs.

“I love movies, I love Halloween, and I love real estate,” says Stubbs. “We haven’t done anything like this before, we were just having fun with it.”

And guess what? The fun paid off: The home vent viral on social media and racked up hundreds of thousands of clicks.

But Stubbs wasn’t the only agent with the horror-ific idea to use Ghostface to gin up a little excitement. Another home—this one in Michigan—also stars Ghostface in various poses throughout the property.

“Halloween is my biggest thing,” says Michigan agent James Pyle. “The sellers are friends of mine, so they let me have fun with the photos.”

Both agents plan to try and reprise their success for later holidays, but remained mum when they were asked for hints. Perhaps an elf is in the offing?

Apart from the costume contest, other homes you clicked on this week included a cozy log cabin in Indiana, a modern house tucked in the woods of Wisconsin, and the Arkansas home of the late Mary Duggar.

However, thanks to Ghostface, this week’s entire list is a killer selection. Scroll on down, if you dare…

10. W222 Terrace St, Spring Valley, WI

Price: $199,000

Why it’s here: Whoa, Wisconsin! This cool contemporary home was built in 2016 and sits high on a large lot overlooking Spring Valley. The three-bedroom home has large windows and cathedral ceilings that make the home feel light and airy. Hardwood floors give the modern design a bit of warmth. The property also includes a two-car garage and detached workshop.

9. 4023 Anchor Way, Orlando, FL

Price: $350,000

Why it’s here: This is a bit of a time capsule. There’s deep carpet in the bathroom, and avocado green throughout the kitchen! We’re especially in love with the four-bedroom home’s wall-to-wall green carpet. Walls of windows provide views of the pool and gardens throughout the interiors, while stone walls block unwanted eyes from the street. The house hasn’t been updated in decades, offering some lucky buyer a chance to score a vintage dream.

7. 54567 Vontz Cir, Callahan, FL

Price: $185,000

Why it’s here: Although it looks as if it’s right out of an old-timey storybook, this cute white three-bedroom house with a blue door was built in 1982. The interiors of this charming abode are full of natural light. The full-acre lot offers plenty of room to soak in the sunshine and entertain, either in the large yard, on the roomy deck, or underneath one of the lot’s mature shade trees.

5. 2332 Lower State Rd, Doylestown, PA

Price: $525,000

Why it’s here: Two in a row in Doylestown? The well-known Sunny Side School in Bucks County was built in 1895 as a schoolhouse and converted in 1988 into an adorable three-bedroom home. The interiors have retained many of the original details, including high ceilings, wainscoting, large windows, wood floors, and even low-set door handles within a child’s reach. Shhhhh—the half-acre lot also includes secret gardens.

4. 809 N. Chestnut St, Lansing, MI

Price: $105,000

Why it’s here: There’s plenty to love about this four-bedroom home built in 1911, but it’s the spooky appearance of someone dressed as Ghostface in the listing photos that caused a scary number of clicks. Maybe the next owners can cut a deal to have Ghostface show up to help with yardwork a couple of times a month?

3. 422 Oak St, Dayton, OH

Price: $149,900

Why it’s here: Built in 1905, this historic one-bedroom home in the South Park district has been completely remodeled and converted into a modern, cozy, and stylish residence. The small building has housed a variety of businesses over the years, including a barbershop, grocery store, and church. It’s now an Instagram-worthy successful Airbnb.

2. 1935 Dowell Rd, Springdale, AR

Price: $489,000

Why it’s here: This four-bedroom place in Northwest Arkansas was the home of Mary Duggar, the grandmother of the Duggar family. She passed away this summer and the popular reality TV family is now searching for a new owner. Just one caveat—a buyer will have to be prepared to live across the road from a landfill.

1. 1431 Thistledown Dr, Brandon, FL

Price: $189,900

Why it’s here: A killer idea, well executed! This three-bedroom home near Tampa racked up the most clicks this week, thanks to an appearance from Ghostface. The horror movie man in black stars throughout the home: chugging a drink in the modern kitchen with new cabinets and countertops, and enjoying the updated bathrooms by stabbing at the air in the shower and looking for a little privacy. Given this home’s popularity, we’re sure there will be quite a few sequels.
